Globe-shaped maincrop for spring sowing. A solid onion which keeps well. Bulb onion variety.

Growing Information

 For very large onions sow December-early January and transplant seedlings in spring. To store - lift and allow to dry in full sun, and hang in ropes in cool airy conditions. (24 weeks maturity.)

Sowing Information

Sow thinly Mar/Apr into finely raked, firmed soil 13mm ( 1?2") deep in rows 30cm (12") apart. Germination 18-24 days. Thin seedlings to 10cm (4") between plants. Use thinning as salad onions. Can also be sown Feb 3 seeds per small pot in a propagator or greenhouse at approx. 15-20°C (60-68°F) eventually planting outside in well prepared soil. Water freely during dry weather. To assist ripening in late summer gently lift bulbs with a garden fork. Finish ripening outdoors, lifting in mid September.
