Medium-sized flowers, bicoloured and tricoloured. Compact plants, blooming freely from spring to autumn in beds and borders, and as edging. Cute little flowers with velvety petals, in beautiful colours. Grow as a HHA - Half hardy annual or HB - Hardy biennial. Height 15cm (6") approximately.

Culinary tip: This flower is edible. Edible flowers are always best when picked fresh from the garden. They'll taste even better if you can pick them early in the morning before they've had too much sun.

Sow February-April under glass for flowers May-September. Sow June-July outdoors for blooms the following spring.

Sow seed thinly in pots or trays on a windowsill in a propagator or in a greenhouse at approx. 10-15°C (50-60°F), 3mm ( 1?2") deep, in a good quality, finely sieved, firmed, moist compost (Germination 14-21 days). Transplant seedlings, spacing 5cm (2") apart in trays and grow on. Plant into tubs or baskets in May, after carefully acclimatising to outside conditions. 15cm (6") apart in the container, preferably around the edges. Alternatively plant outside 23cm (9") apart as a ground cover edging. Sow June-July for flowering next year.
